Description

A remarkable piece of European history, preserved in stoneware.

This authentic antique mineral water bottle was produced in Germany during the late nineteenth to early twentieth century for J. Friedrich of Grosskarben, near Frankfurt. Embossed with the historic Taunus Brunnen Schutzmarke crest, it once carried naturally carbonated mineral water from the renowned Taunus springs—an area celebrated for its healing waters and exported throughout Europe and North America.

Handcrafted from durable salt-glazed stoneware, the bottle features the warm buff body and distinctive brown glazed shoulder that have become hallmarks of German mineral water bottles from this period. Its utilitarian form, embossed maker's mark, and beautifully aged surface reflect both the craftsmanship and everyday history of the era, making it a fascinating decorative object as well as a collectible.

Today, it serves as a striking accent on bookshelves, kitchen shelves, and console tables, or as a unique vessel for dried botanicals, celebrating the enduring beauty of well-made utilitarian objects.

Please Note: This is an authentic antique. Variations in glaze, color, surface wear, firing marks, and imperfections are expected and celebrated as part of the bottle's history and unique character. There is a repair to the handle, consistent with the age and history of the piece, which does not detract from its display or functionality.
